What kotlin-mcp-development does

This plugin adds a project generator and an expert assistant to GitHub Copilot. Running /kotlin-mcp-development:kotlin-mcp-server-generator scaffolds a complete Kotlin MCP server project with correct dependencies and baseline code.

The included kotlin-mcp-expert agent answers architecture questions. It guides you through the official io.modelcontextprotocol:kotlin-sdk library. Because of that, you spend less time searching for boilerplate examples.

Install this if you build MCP servers specifically on Kotlin. If you use Python or TypeScript for protocol endpoints, you do not need this plugin.

What it helps with

  • scaffold a Kotlin MCP server project structure
  • set up dependencies for io.modelcontextprotocol:kotlin-sdk
  • get implementation guidance from a Kotlin MCP expert agent

Example prompts for the agent

  • /kotlin-mcp-development:kotlin-mcp-server-generator
  • @kotlin-mcp-expert how do I register tools using io.modelcontextprotocol:kotlin-sdk?
  • @kotlin-mcp-expert explain the lifecycle of an MCP server connection in Kotlin
