geo-score — Claude Code MCP server: GEO scoring and setup
Scores how ready a site is for AI answer engines on a 0–100 scale. With your API key, it can check whether their answers cite the site.
claude mcp add geo-score -e OPENAI_API_KEY=<OPENAI_API_KEY> -e PERPLEXITY_API_KEY=<PERPLEXITY_API_KEY> -e GEMINI_API_KEY=<GEMINI_API_KEY> -e ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=<ANTHROPIC_API_KEY> -e OPENROUTER_API_KEY=<OPENROUTER_API_KEY> -- uvx geo-scoreWhat geo-score does
geo-score checks whether AI answer engines can reach a site, parse its content and treat it as a source worth citing. It returns a score from 0 to 100 using a published rubric. The site check needs no API key or installation. It can flag issues such as crawler-blocking rules in robots.txt or content that appears only after JavaScript runs.
Add a key from OpenAI, Perplexity, Gemini, Anthropic or OpenRouter to test citations for a question. For recurring checks, provide a fixed question list and the same kind of API access. Citation results appear alongside the score; they do not change it. Without an API key, citation checks and recurring monitoring are out of reach.
What it helps with
- score a site's readiness for AI citations
- spot crawler access issues on a site
- check which sources answer engines cite for a question
- track citations across a fixed set of questions
Example prompts for the agent
- Score how ready
stripe.comis for AI answer engines. - Check whether answers about a marketplace payments API cite
stripe.com. - Track citations for this fixed set of questions.
How to install geo-score
Platform CLI
claude mcp add geo-score -e OPENAI_API_KEY=<OPENAI_API_KEY> -e PERPLEXITY_API_KEY=<PERPLEXITY_API_KEY> -e GEMINI_API_KEY=<GEMINI_API_KEY> -e ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=<ANTHROPIC_API_KEY> -e OPENROUTER_API_KEY=<OPENROUTER_API_KEY> -- uvx geo-scoreReplace <…> with your own values. 1 more environment variable is in the server README. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from geo-score <command>

Questions about geo-score
How do I install geo-score in Claude Code?
Run `claude mcp add geo-score -e OPENAI_API_KEY=<OPENAI_API_KEY> -e PERPLEXITY_API_KEY=<PERPLEXITY_API_KEY> -e GEMINI_API_KEY=<GEMINI_API_KEY> -e ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=<ANTHROPIC_API_KEY> -e OPENROUTER_API_KEY=<OPENROUTER_API_KEY> -- uvx geo-score`. Replace the placeholders with keys for the services you plan to use.
What does geo-score do?
It rates whether AI answer engines can access and cite a site, using a 0–100 score. With an API key, it can also check which sources appear in answers to specific questions.
Does geo-score need an API key to score a site?
No key is needed for the site score. Citation checks and recurring monitoring use your own API keys.
