Weavetab — MCP server for Claude Code: features and setup
Weavetab lets AI agents operate Chromium pages and local Electron apps through CDP. It provides structured page maps and tools for interacting with visible interface elements.
claude mcp add mcp -- npx -y @weavetab/mcpWhat Weavetab does
Weavetab connects an MCP client to Chromium browsers and Electron desktop software using the Chrome DevTools Protocol. Instead of sending an entire HTML document to the model, browser_map builds a semantic representation with stable element references. Later reads can report only changed nodes, keeping the agent's view focused on what has changed.
The server includes pointer controls for navigating nested menus and browser_type_secret for resolving credentials on the server side. Its security layer covers domain policies, role-based permissions, and audit records. Communication uses stdio or an optional WebSocket endpoint bound to 127.0.0.1:3000; the CDP connection stays on 127.0.0.1 as well.
Node.js 18 or newer is required. Start the package with npx -y @weavetab/mcp, then register it in the configuration for your MCP client. The target browser or Electron application must be available locally for the agent to control it.
What it helps with
- Locate page controls without sending the full HTML to the model
- Navigate nested browser menus and activate their final items
- Operate user interfaces in local Electron applications
- Enter credentials without exposing them in the model context
- Refresh a page map using only the changes since the previous read
Example prompts for the agent
- Open the project page in Chromium and locate the sign-in control using the semantic map.
- Navigate through the “File” → “Export As” → “PNG” menu and activate the final item.
- Use
browser_type_secretto fill the authentication field without exposing the credential to the model.
