Viajante — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Searches flights and hotels from a terminal, a Python call or an AI assistant, returning prices, routes and links with no API key involved.
claude mcp add viajante -- npx -y @viajante/mcpWhat Viajante does
Behind the tools sit Google Flights, Google Hotels and Booking.com; Skiplagged joins only if you enable it. Answers arrive with fares, itinerary detail and links. When a provider hands back nothing, the report states that instead of inventing a price.
The server carries 22 tools. Among them: one-way, round-trip and multi-city flight search, a sweep for the cheapest departure day inside a date window, stays with cancellation terms, flights plus a hotel in one call, itinerary checks against earlier results, award-value arithmetic and an offline airport code lookup. Every tool except lookup_airports replies inside one envelope holding status, completeness, empty_reason, retry_after and observed_at. A blank result means the provider had nothing only when empty_reason reads provider_empty.
Python 3.10+ is required, and the npx route assumes uv is installed. Booking.com requests and --fetch detail need the browser extra: run pip install 'viajante[browser]', then playwright install chromium. Those calls fail without Chromium. Currency is taken from --currency or from the origin airport's country, hotels must always be given one, and conversion between currencies never happens. The --transport streamable-http mode has no authentication, so bind it to loopback.
What it helps with
- compare fares across a month of departure dates
- find a stay with free cancellation for given nights
- price a trip with the flight and the hotel together
- re-check an offer that may have gone stale
- catch figures in an answer that no search produced
Example prompts for the agent
- Round trip from Chicago to Dublin, seven nights, sometime in April 2027 — show me which departure dates are cheapest.
- Find a hotel in Vienna for two guests, arriving 14 June 2027 and leaving 18 June 2027, prices in EUR.
- Validate the itinerary in
trip.jsonagainst a fresh search and flag anything you can't confirm.
