Velog — Claude Code MCP server: posts, series, comments
Hooks Claude up to Velog: drafts, publishing, series, comments, search and trending, spread across 29 tools.
claude mcp add velog -- npx -y velog-mcp-claudeWhat Velog does
Velog is a stdio MCP server for Node.js that hands your agent access to velog.io. It covers the writing loop end to end: create a draft, publish it, edit or delete a post, push local images to the Velog CDN, group posts into series, leave comments and replies, like or unlike entries. A second group of tools is research-oriented — keyword search, trending posts by day, week, month or year, a trending report, and topic discovery that crosses popular tags against what you have already published.
Two tools handle content you already have. One pulls markdown from a GitHub blog (Jekyll, Hugo, anything with front matter) into Velog drafts and rewrites relative image paths to raw URLs. The other reads commit history and diffs from a local repository and produces a technical post draft; you can set how many commits to scan, a range after a tag, whether to include diffs and how many diff lines to take, plus tag hints.
Setup needs Node.js 18+ and Velog tokens. You copy access_token and refresh_token from DevTools → Application → Cookies on https://velog.io and feed them through npx -p velog-mcp-claude velog-mcp-setup; they land in ~/.velog-mcp.json with 0600 permissions. The access token lasts about 24 hours and the server refreshes it on its own, the refresh token about 30 days — after that, run setup again. Drafts live in the server session memory, so a restart wipes them and they expire after 24 hours. Publish with is_private: true if you want a draft to survive.
What it helps with
- draft a post from recent commits and diffs
- migrate articles from a GitHub blog to Velog
- sort posts into series and fix their order
- scan Velog trends for topics you have not covered
- reply to comments on your own posts
Example prompts for the agent
- Draft a post from the last 10 commits in this repo
- Move the posts in

Questions about Velog
How do I install the Velog MCP server in Claude Code?
Get your tokens first with npx -p velog-mcp-claude velog-mcp-setup, then register the server: claude mcp add velog -- npx -y velog-mcp-claude. For a global install use claude mcp add --scope global velog -- npx -y velog-mcp-claude.
What does the Velog MCP server do?
It exposes 29 tools for velog.io: drafting and publishing posts, editing and deleting them, series, comments, likes, search, trending and topic analysis. It also imports markdown from a GitHub blog and builds a draft from git history.
What do I need before running it?
Node.js 18+ and the access_token and refresh_token values from your Velog cookies. The server relies on an internal GraphQL API, so tools can stop responding if Velog changes that API.
