Usercall — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Runs AI-moderated voice and text interviews with product users. Delivers customer feedback, grouped themes, and direct quotes directly to coding agents.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.usercall.coWhat Usercall does
The server equips agents with tools to run customer research without manual moderation. It spins up an interview link that teammates can paste into emails, Slack channels, or chat widgets. Once conversations conclude, the agent receives grouped discussion topics alongside verbatim quotes.
In-app prompts rely on Research Triggers. When behavioral events fire in your product analytics, the agent sets up targeted interviews for matching user traits. Each trigger is created in a paused state. A team member must follow the activation link to turn it on manually.
Hosted mode connects via OAuth at https://mcp.usercall.co without API tokens. Running the server locally over stdio requires setting USERCALL_API_KEY from developer settings. In-app triggers fail completely unless the client SDK is embedded in the application.
What it helps with
- interview customers about drop-off points in signup flows
- generate shareable web links for voice feedback sessions
- extract recurring themes and quotes from interview transcripts
- trigger automated survey invitations based on analytics events
Example prompts for the agent
- Create an interview study investigating why users abandon the checkout step.
- Fetch the latest customer interview quotes and summarize the main themes.
- Set up a paused research trigger for the onboarding_started event.
