mcp · translatize — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects the Translatize API to AI coding tools over stdio. It lets your assistant search, edit, branch localization keys, and complete missing text.
claude mcp add --env TRANSLATIZE_API_TOKEN=<TRANSLATIZE_API_TOKEN> --env TRANSLATIZE_API_URL=<TRANSLATIZE_API_URL> --env TRANSLATIZE_APP_URL=<TRANSLATIZE_APP_URL> --transport stdio translatize-mcp -- npx -y @translatize/mcpWhat mcp does
This MCP server brings Translatize translation management straight into AI development agents. Working across stdio, it gives tools like Claude Code or Cursor access to inspect, query, edit, and branch project labels.
Under the hood, the server runs on @translatize/core. Because it relies on native fetch, your environment needs Node.js version 18.17 or higher.
Authentication demands a machine token passed in TRANSLATIZE_API_TOKEN. Without this credential, the API rejects any label lookups or updates. Custom backend endpoints can also be supplied via TRANSLATIZE_API_URL and TRANSLATIZE_APP_URL.
What it helps with
- query and update localization labels directly in Translatize
- create translation branches for new product features
- detect and fill untranslated UI strings
- manage translations inside the editor without opening a browser
Example prompts for the agent
- Look up the confirmation dialog label in Translatize and list its translations.
- Create a new branch in Translatize and add missing strings for the checkout view.
- Find all untranslated keys for French in Translatize and supply draft values.
