TIDAL MCP — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connect an AI agent to a TIDAL account to search music, inspect playlists, and manage a collection. Account changes require explicit approval.
claude mcp add --env TIDAL_MCP_ENABLE_WRITES=<TIDAL_MCP_ENABLE_WRITES> --env TIDAL_MCP_DATA_DIR=<TIDAL_MCP_DATA_DIR> --env TIDAL_MCP_EXPORT_DIR=<TIDAL_MCP_EXPORT_DIR> --transport stdio tidal-mcp -- npx -y @sickn33/tidal-mcpWhat TIDAL MCP does
TIDAL MCP gives an agent tools for finding tracks, albums, artists, and lyrics, exploring recommendations, and working with favorites, playlists, and folders. It can analyze or compare playlists and export them as JSON or M3U. The server registers 122 tools with defined input and output schemas.
Connect it with npx -y @sickn33/tidal-mcp and authorize a TIDAL account before use. It runs on macOS or Linux and requires Node.js 18 or later, Python 3.11–3.13, and uv.
Account writes start disabled. Setting TIDAL_MCP_ENABLE_WRITES enables the write flow, but does not bypass review: the agent prepares a preview, gets explicit approval, then applies the recorded action. Without that flag, remote account changes are unavailable.
What it helps with
- search TIDAL for tracks, albums, and artists
- inspect a playlist and compare it with another
- find music related to selected tracks
- export a playlist as JSON or M3U
- review a proposed playlist change before applying it
Example prompts for the agent
- Find this artist’s albums in TIDAL and compare them.
- Analyze my playlist, find duplicates, and describe its track order.
- Prepare a playlist change and show me the preview before applying it.
