Streamkap — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects your coding agent to Streamkap to control real-time CDC pipelines, inspect streaming lag, and triage dead-letter queues.
claude mcp add --transport http tools https://mcp.streamkap.com/mcpWhat Streamkap does
The server connects your coding agent to Streamkap. It configures real-time change data capture (CDC) pipelines using conversational prompts. The model can wire operational databases to cloud data warehouses and inspect replication lag.
Streamkap hosts the backend remotely. You point your client to https://mcp.streamkap.com/mcp without running local background processes. Standard login works via OAuth scoped to your selected tenant. Headless agents or CI workflows require a project key supplied in STREAMKAP_PROJECT_KEY.
Be aware of security boundaries. Destructive actions like pipeline deletion or state resets remain blocked by default during OAuth sessions.
What it helps with
- replicate database changes to data warehouses via CDC
- investigate spikes in end-to-end streaming delay
- inspect and categorize dead-letter queue records
- monitor active replication pipeline health and error logs
Example prompts for the agent
- Check which replication pipelines are currently failing and list their errors
- Create a pipeline streaming the Postgres orders table into Snowflake
- Analyze messages in dead-letter queues from the past hour and group them by failure reason

Questions about Streamkap
How to install Streamkap in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http streamkap https://mcp.streamkap.com/mcp. On the first run, authenticate using your Streamkap account via OAuth.
What does Streamkap MCP server do?
It lets your agent manage CDC streaming pipelines in Streamkap. You can configure data flows, inspect latency spikes, and check errors inside dead-letter queues.
Can I delete pipelines during standard OAuth sessions?
No, destructive commands such as deletes and resets are disabled by default when using OAuth. Managing these actions or running headless in CI requires a project key.
