Stock Screener — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
MCP server for daily stock screening, relative-strength ratings, and market breadth across 12 countries. Operates without any API keys.
claude mcp add stockscreen-mcp -- uvx stockscreen-mcpWhat Stock Screener does
The server fetches daily post-close snapshots published on GitHub Pages and caches them in memory. It requires no API tokens, accounts, or background database servers. Data spans 12 markets, including the US, Japan, Canada, and Germany. The compressed US market scan takes roughly 7 MB.
Six read-only tools handle market health, sector group rankings, and stock filtering. The package bundles 28 preset screening models, covering Minervini trend templates, CANSLIM, volatility contraction patterns, and cup-with-handle setups. Relative strength ratings run from 1 to 99 percentile within each local market, where 99 represents the top tier.
Intraday traders should look elsewhere: all records represent end-of-day snapshots and never pull streaming live quotes. Running the server requires Astral's uv package manager to supply the uvx command.
What it helps with
- screen US equities using Minervini trend criteria and sector rankings
- track market breadth indicators, distribution days, and exposure scores
- rank industry groups by relative strength and weekly momentum shifts
- inspect individual stock metrics, quarterly EPS growth, and chart setups
Example prompts for the agent
- Check US market health right now, focusing on distribution days and breadth.
- List Hong Kong stocks with RS above 90 and quarterly EPS growth over 25%.
