spotifyscraper — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
An MCP server for fetching public Spotify metadata, track lyrics, and podcast details. Works without official developer API keys.
claude mcp add spotifyscraper -e SPOTIFY_SP_DC=<SPOTIFY_SP_DC> -- uvx spotifyscraperWhat spotifyscraper does
spotifyscraper connects LLM hosts directly to Spotify's open web endpoints. Instead of requiring developer registration and OAuth credentials, it pulls an anonymous session token from public embeds. Your assistant can look up tracks, inspect albums, fetch playlists, and discover related artists.
The server is strictly read-only, which means it cannot modify playlists or control media playback. General catalog metadata requires zero login. If you want lyrics or podcast transcripts, you must pass your personal Spotify sp_dc cookie in the environment configuration. The package runs on Python 3.10 and later.
What it helps with
- Pull track and album metadata without registering a Spotify developer app
- Retrieve related artists and track recommendations after official API deprecations
- Fetch song lyrics and podcast transcripts using a session cookie
- Inspect podcast episode details and show notes for agent context
Example prompts for the agent
- Get details and tracklist for album ID 6N9PS4QXF1D0OWPk0Sxtb4
- Fetch the lyrics and preview link for track ID 4uLU6hMCjMI75M1A2tKUQC
- Find recommendations and related artists for this musician
