What Skills Anywhere does

The server discovers SKILL.md definitions across workspace paths and assistant storage locations. It monitors directories used by Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, and shared .agents/skills trees. You can also attach external Git repositories with locked commit revisions, alongside Anthropic plugin marketplaces.

Discovered instructions reach the agent over stdio MCP. The CLI and server operate independently. A bundled command-line checker inspects Markdown file references before loading them.

Execution requires Node.js 22.19+ or 24+. Working with remote repositories will fail without Git installed in your environment.

What it helps with

  • gather agent instructions from separate editor folders into one registry
  • link remote skill bundles straight from Git commits
  • validate local Markdown file references before loading bundles
  • block pull requests in CI when skill manifests have broken paths

Example prompts for the agent

  • List the agent skills discovered by Skills Anywhere across my tool directories
  • Check path/to/SKILL.md for missing relative resources before importing it
  • Load the required skill bundle from the configured repository checkout
