What Screenshot Scout does

The server exposes the capture_screenshot tool. It takes any target webpage URL and renders an image or a PDF. Supported formats include PNG, WebP, and PDF. You can snap an entire page or focus on an element using a CSS selector. It handles mobile viewport simulation and country selection via two-letter codes. Before capturing, the tool can strip cookie notices and ads.

Local execution via npx or Docker requires Node.js 22 or newer. You can connect through stdio or point the client to https://mcp.screenshotscout.com/mcp/api-key. Each request consumes quota from your Screenshot Scout balance. If your API key requires signed requests, the hosted endpoint will fail. In that scenario, you must run the server locally with SCREENSHOTSCOUT_SECRET_KEY.

What it helps with

  • Export a webpage into a PDF document with custom margins and paper size
  • Capture a specific user interface element via CSS selector
  • Test page layout across mobile screen dimensions
  • Grab localized webpage views from specific countries while suppressing ads and cookie prompts

Example prompts for the agent

  • Take a full-page screenshot of the target link and hide all cookie banners.
  • Convert this webpage into an a4 PDF document using landscape orientation.
  • Capture the element matching #hero-banner using mobile viewport dimensions.
