ruby-native — Claude Code MCP server: ship a Rails app to the stores

An MCP server bundled with the ruby_native gem: it checks your Rails views and config before a build goes to the App Store or Google Play.

What ruby-native does

The ruby_native gem is the Rails side of Ruby Native: view helpers, a YAML config file, endpoints mounted at /native, and a CLI for previewing and deploying builds. The MCP server speaks over stdin and stdout and hands those checks to a coding agent.

Seven tools split into two groups. Three work from your working copy with no account: check_views flags misspelled or duplicated data-native-* attributes, lookup_signals maps each attribute to the gem version it needs, validate_config reports what the apps reject in config/ruby_native.yml. The other four read your account with the token from ruby_native login — build status, decode errors reported by real devices over the last 48 hours, and which deployed build your users can install.

Ruby Native signals fail quietly by design: an unknown data-native-* attribute is ignored, so a typo raises nothing and logs nothing. That is why check_views and deployed_builds come as a pair — one compares templates against the gem in your Gemfile, the other against the binary already in the store. ruby_native preview needs cloudflared installed.

What it helps with

  • catch a typo in a data-native-* attribute before a build
  • explain why a correct attribute does nothing on the phone
  • see what the apps reject in config/ruby_native.yml
  • read decode errors reported by real devices
  • check which gem version a signal requires

Example prompts for the agent

  • Check my views for misspelled data-native-* attributes
  • Validate config/ruby_native.yml and tell me what the apps will reject
  • Show decode errors from devices over the last 48 hours

Questions about ruby-native

How do I install ruby-native in Claude Code?

Add the marketplace with claude plugin marketplace add ruby-native/gem, then install the plugin with claude plugin install ruby-native@ruby-native.

What does ruby-native do?

It turns a Rails app into iOS and Android apps: your existing views render as native tab bars, forms and push notifications, builds run in the cloud, and submissions go to the App Store and Google Play. The MCP server lets an agent check views, config and build status along the way.

What does ruby-native need to work?

The account tools use the token stored by ruby_native login. Previewing on a phone also needs cloudflared and a running Rails server.
