What RecordHTML does

RecordHTML connects AI assistants to a hosted browser capture engine. The server renders live URLs or assistant-generated markup into MP4, WebM, and GIF files. It executes pages inside a full browser environment in the cloud.

The toolkit provides five distinct operations. The record_html tool starts the recording pass and outputs a signed download URL. To inspect parameters without spending account quota, the assistant can run estimate_recording. The remaining commands (get_recording, list_recordings, and delete_recording) monitor progress, review past recordings, and clear remote files.

No local browser binaries are required. Headless agents will require an API key in the authorization header, as they cannot complete the interactive OAuth prompt. Desktop clients connect via standard HTTP and authenticate through an authorization window.

What it helps with

  • Capture HTML5 banners and web animations as MP4 video files
  • Render interactive web pages to WebM or GIF format
  • Inspect quota limits and estimates before initiating a video recording
  • Receive direct links to generated video files inside the agent chat

Example prompts for the agent

  • Record https://example.com/banner/ at 300x600 for 15 seconds as an MP4
  • Estimate the quota cost before recording this HTML banner
  • List my latest recordings and delete the oldest video file

Questions about RecordHTML

How do I install RecordHTML in Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add --transport http recordhtml https://mcp.recordhtml.com (or claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.recordhtml.com) in your terminal. Then type /mcp in Claude Code, choose the service, and sign in.

What does RecordHTML do?

It gives AI assistants tools to record websites and generated HTML into MP4, WebM, or GIF files. The capture runs in an actual cloud browser and returns a direct link to the resulting video.

Do I need to install Chromium or FFmpeg locally?

No local browser setup is necessary because the service runs remotely over HTTP on RecordHTML infrastructure. You only need a RecordHTML account to authenticate via OAuth or pass an API key.
