Pyth Pro MCP Server — Claude Code MCP server for market data
Connects an AI assistant to Pyth price feeds: crypto, equities, FX and commodities. Useful when you want quotes or candles without leaving the chat.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.pyth.network/mcpWhat Pyth Pro MCP Server does
The server lives at https://mcp.pyth.network/mcp and speaks Streamable HTTP. Six tools ship with it: feed search, latest price, a point-in-time snapshot, every update inside a window of up to 60 seconds, and OHLC candles. One more tool turns a date string into a Unix timestamp.
Every user supplies a Pyth Pro token. Without one only get_symbols and the date converter respond; price calls need Authorization: Bearer in the header or an access_token argument. A token sent with a single call overrides the configured one. A 401 means the key is bad or expired, a 403 means your plan does not cover that feed.
Prices come back only for feeds in the stable state. Anything that returns no price lands in missing_feed_ids — that covers beta and coming_soon feeds, plus channels faster than a feed's min_channel. Start with get_symbols to see what exists. Price tools take either the full symbol Crypto.BTC/USD or the bare pair BTC/USD.
What it helps with
- check the live price of bitcoin or gold inside the chat
- pull OHLC candles for a chart or a quick analysis
- compare two assets at the same moment
- discover which feeds Pyth carries for an asset class
- turn a date into a Unix timestamp for a range query
Example prompts for the agent
- What is the current price of Bitcoin?
- Compare gold and silver prices right now

Questions about Pyth Pro MCP Server
How do I install Pyth Pro MCP Server in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.pyth.network/mcp. It registers the server for the folder you run it in; add --scope user to make it available in every project.
What does Pyth Pro MCP Server do?
It gives an assistant access to Pyth market data: live prices, historical snapshots, short-window updates and OHLC candles across crypto, equities, FX and commodities.
Do I need an API key?
Yes, for the price tools. Pass a Pyth Pro token as an Authorization: Bearer header or as the access_token call parameter. Without it, only get_symbols and convert_date_to_timestamp work.
