prumo — Claude Code MCP server: lint your context files
Compares the context files a coding agent reads with what the repository actually holds, then lists the mismatches.
claude mcp add prumo -- npx -y @tomd4vs/prumoWhat prumo does
Agents read CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, .cursor/rules, Copilot instructions and installed skills. Those notes age badly: a folder gets renamed, a file disappears, a link points nowhere. prumo spots such lines on its own and prints the file, the line number and a suggested correction.
One command inside a git repository does it: npx @tomd4vs/prumo. Node.js 18+ and git are enough — no account, no config file. Add --format json when another tool should consume the output, or prumo --explain CLAUDE.md:12 when a line you expected to see never showed up.
As an MCP server the package exposes five tools. prumo_check and the three reports — prumo_drift, prumo_budget, prumo_coverage — only read. prumo_fix goes further and corrects letter case plus renames git itself recorded. Claims in prose stay unchecked, since judging those takes a model. Nothing leaves your machine: no telemetry, no network calls.
What it helps with
- catch paths in
CLAUDE.mdthat broke after a folder rename - find links to pages or headings that no longer exist
- spot letter-case mistakes before a Linux build fails
- add a context-file check as one CI step
- see why a particular line was left out of the report
Example prompts for the agent
- Run
npx @tomd4vs/prumoand fix everything it reports - Check the repo with
prumo_checkand list the drift you find - Use
prumo --explain CLAUDE.md:12to show what it read on that line

Questions about prumo
How do I install prumo in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add prumo -- npx -y @tomd4vs/prumo. The server then shows up to the agent as an MCP tool.
What does prumo do?
It checks the agent's context files against the git index and reports drift: wrong letter case in a path, a dead link, a file that is gone. Each finding comes with its line and a correction.
Does it need an API key or an account?
No. Node.js 18+ and git are all it asks for, and it runs locally without touching the network.
