proxyllm-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connect an agent to ProxyLLM model listings, subscription cost estimates, and account and routing-key tools.
claude mcp add proxyllm-mcp -e PROXYLLM_ACCOUNT_TOKEN=<PROXYLLM_ACCOUNT_TOKEN> -e PROXYLLM_ROUTING_KEY=<PROXYLLM_ROUTING_KEY> -- npx -y proxyllm-mcpWhat proxyllm-mcp does
The server fetches ProxyLLM’s model catalog in an OpenAI-style format and estimates how a subscription compares with current OpenAI API spending. It can also inspect a routing key’s model access, budget, and Codex subscription backing. These lookup and calculation tools work without an account.
An agent can request an email verification code, exchange it for an account token, and check account status. Once a paid plan is active, it can create routing keys and attach provider chains. Account management uses PROXYLLM_ACCOUNT_TOKEN; key inspection uses PROXYLLM_ROUTING_KEY. Management calls on unpaid accounts return 402 payment_required, so the paid-plan gate applies before key provisioning or other account operations.
What it helps with
- estimate subscription costs against an OpenAI API bill
- inspect models and budget access for a routing key
- obtain an account token through email verification
- create a routing key with a provider chain
- review account usage over 30 days
Example prompts for the agent
- Estimate how a subscription compares with my monthly OpenAI API bill.
- List the models available to this routing key and inspect its budget.
- Start signup, verify the email code, and check the account status.
