proletariat-cli — Claude Code MCP server: agents, tickets, boards
Wires the prlt orchestrator into your agent: tickets, boards, workspaces and several workers from one CLI. Useful once a single chat stops keeping up with the backlog.
claude mcp add proletariat-cli -- npx -y @proletariat/cliWhat proletariat-cli does
The server plugs into a client over MCP and exposes prlt tooling: file a ticket, move it into work, start a worker on it. Everything lands in one SQLite database, and sessions run under tmux, so closing the terminal does not kill the job. A worker gets its own git branch and worktree, and writes code inside a Docker container rather than on the host.
The CLI itself is installed separately; the server has nothing to start without it. Pick either path: brew install chrismcdermut/proletariat/prlt on macOS, or npm install -g @proletariat/cli everywhere. On pnpm 10 run pnpm approve-builds in the global store first, or the native module build fails. Check with prlt --version.
The project is labelled beta, and its commands and APIs shift between releases. Pin the prlt version on a repo you care about instead of pulling the newest one before every run. A --json mode lets an agent drive the CLI programmatically when interactive menus get in the way.
What it helps with
- turn a ticket with acceptance criteria into an agent assignment
- run several workers in parallel without their edits colliding
- carry task context from one agent run into the next
- keep an agent session alive after the terminal window closes
- drive the same workflow from a script through
--json
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a feature ticket for OAuth and spawn a worker on it
- List every ticket on the board, grouped by priority
- Spawn an agent to review that ticket and print the result as JSON

Questions about proletariat-cli
How do I install proletariat-cli in Claude Code?
Install prlt first: brew install chrismcdermut/proletariat/prlt or npm install -g @proletariat/cli. Then register the MCP server with claude mcp add proletariat-cli -- npx -y @proletariat/cli.
What does proletariat-cli do?
It gives your agent prlt's tooling — filing tickets, running boards and workflows, launching workers in separate branches and containers. All of that state sits in a single database.
What has to be in place before it runs?
A working prlt on your PATH, plus approved build scripts if you went the npm route on pnpm 10. Docker is what keeps spawned workers sandboxed.
