formacv — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Gives Claude Code the FormaCV toolset: fit a CV into an agency template, tailor it to a vacancy, strip personal details, write it back to the ATS.
claude mcp add formacv -e FORMACV_API_KEY=<FORMACV_API_KEY> -e FORMACV_SERVER_URL=<FORMACV_SERVER_URL> -- npx -y @formacv/mcpWhat formacv does
Eight tools come with it: format_cv, tailor_cv, anonymize_cv, push_to_ats, bulk_format, list_templates, list_integrations and get_job_status. Their JSON contracts match FormaCV's HTTPS endpoints, so a run you did in chat can be replayed from a script or a pipeline.
Slow PDF rendering does not hold the connection open. Ask get_job_status for progress. list_templates and list_integrations exist so the model stops inventing template and integration IDs. Two variables do the wiring: FORMACV_SERVER_URL for the origin of your own deployment, FORMACV_API_KEY for the bearer token issued at onboarding. The process starts under npx, so Node.js 18+ has to be present.
The value demo only works against demo origins. Point the server at a production host with demo in the key and every call comes back rejected, so get the real token first. Anonymization flows write an audit log. Tenant data sits on isolated infrastructure with AES-256 at rest and TLS in transit, and on-premises deployment is available.
What it helps with
- render a candidate CV into the agency template
- rewrite a CV against a specific vacancy
- remove name, photo and contacts for a blind submission
- send the finished file back to a Bullhorn candidate record
- format a stack of CVs in a single call
Example prompts for the agent
- Format
cv.docxwith thebrand-bluetemplate and give me the finished file - Anonymize this CV for the client and show me the audit log
- Run
bulk_formatover the attachments on this vacancy, then push the results to Bullhorn

Questions about formacv
How do I install formacv in Claude Code?
With one command: claude mcp add formacv -e FORMACV_API_KEY=<FORMACV_API_KEY> -e FORMACV_SERVER_URL=<FORMACV_SERVER_URL> -- npx -y @formacv/mcp. Put your own key and deployment origin in place of the placeholders.
What does formacv do?
It exposes eight FormaCV tools to the agent: CV formatting, vacancy tailoring, anonymization, ATS push-back, batch processing, template and integration listings, and job status.
What does the server need to run?
Node.js 18+, since the transport launches through npx, plus two environment variables: FORMACV_API_KEY and FORMACV_SERVER_URL. The demo key is accepted on demo origins only, not on your production host.
