Phlow MCP Server — Claude Code MCP server: what it does
Local agent execution environment that separates planning, coding, and review steps while enforcing test and linter checks before finalizing changes.
Open on GitHubWhat Phlow MCP Server does
Phlow operates as a guarded runtime where development tasks pass through planner, coder, and reviewer phases. Instead of letting an AI run unrestricted shell commands or scripts, the server restricts file operations to atomic reads and writes with relative paths. Any attempts to traverse parent folders, touch symlinks, or access .git directories are blocked immediately.
Code modifications require explicit proof before they count as verified. An operator-defined TOML configuration specifies which test suites and linters must succeed. If a required check fails, a modified file lacks static coverage, or the step budget runs out, the runtime rejects the result. Without the required test or lint binaries preinstalled in the target virtual environment, the verification pipeline halts.
The server needs a POSIX platform (macOS or Linux), Python 3.11+, the uv tool, and a running Ollama service with a tool-supporting model. By default, configuration targets qwen2.5-coder:7b.
What it helps with
- run multi-step planning, coding, and review workflows locally
- restrict file modifications to relative paths inside the workspace
- gate code changes behind mandatory test and lint verifications
- connect local Ollama models through a sandboxed execution runtime
Example prompts for the agent
- Check the project status and Phlow configuration in the current workspace
- Fix failing parser tests and run configured verification checks

Questions about Phlow MCP Server
How to install Phlow MCP Server in Claude Code?
Clone the repository, initialize a virtual environment with uv venv .venv, and install dependencies using uv pip install --python .venv/bin/python -e '.[editor,dev]'. You will also need a running Ollama instance serving qwen2.5-coder:7b.
What does Phlow MCP Server do?
It supplies a guarded agent execution runtime splitting work across planner, coder, and reviewer roles. Changes are accepted only when configured linters and test suites pass.
Which operating systems support Phlow?
It requires a POSIX-compliant environment, targeting macOS and Linux. The runtime depends on relative file descriptor mechanics and does not support Windows paths.
