PH Civic Data — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Query Philippine public data through an MCP server, from population figures to procurement and hazards. Useful when an agent needs to examine a place or compare regions.
claude mcp add ph-civic-data-mcp -e PAGASA_API_TOKEN=<PAGASA_API_TOKEN> -- uvx ph-civic-data-mcpWhat PH Civic Data does
The server gives agents tools for 19 public Philippine data sources. They can look up PSA statistics, population and poverty figures, procurement notices, infrastructure spending, earthquakes, typhoons and weather. For a place-based overview, get_area_profile combines information on demographics, the economy, procurement and hazards.
There are 41 tools, exposed over stdio through uvx ph-civic-data-mcp. The install commands include PAGASA_API_TOKEN for weather-related setup, so configure that token before relying on weather queries. PSA table requests need a value code for each dimension and are capped at 1000 cells. Inspect the dataset structure first.
What it helps with
- look up a city's population
- compare poverty or employment across regions
- check nearby earthquakes and a volcano's status
- search procurement notices by topic or location
- retrieve PSA figures for selected indicators
Example prompts for the agent
- Compare population and poverty in Cebu City and Davao City.
- Check recent earthquakes near Legazpi and summarize the bulletin.
- Find PSA tables about poverty and retrieve island-group figures for 2023.
