pepesto-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: setup
This MCP server turns recipes or shopping lists into priced supermarket baskets across Europe. It fits agents that need recipe parsing and product matching.
claude mcp add pepesto-mcp -e PEPESTO_API_KEY=<PEPESTO_API_KEY> -- npx -y @pepesto/pepesto-mcpWhat pepesto-mcp does
pepesto-mcp connects an agent to the Pepesto API. Its tools can read a recipe from a URL, text, or image, search the recipe graph, match ingredients to products at a chosen supermarket, and inspect catalog data. Separate calls handle parsing, suggestions, product lookup, and credit checks.
pepesto_oneshot builds a matched basket up front, while pepesto_predirect creates a free handoff link for a shopping list. With the latter, matching happens when the recipient opens the link and the end user pays in the Pepesto app. The server runs through npx and uses PEPESTO_API_KEY for most tools. Checkout itself happens outside the MCP server.
What it helps with
- turn a recipe URL into a supermarket basket
- match ingredients with store products and prices
- search the recipe graph for meal ideas
- hand a shopping list to the Pepesto app
Example prompts for the agent
- Build a Tesco basket from this recipe URL and add olive oil.
- Find a vegan pasta recipe, then match its ingredients at
coop.ch. - Create a free Pepesto handoff link for my shopping list.
