marketplace-catalog-sync — Claude Code skill for VTEX catalog sync
Guides the agent while you build a seller connector that pushes SKUs into a VTEX marketplace and keeps price and stock in step.
npx skills add vtex/skills --skill marketplace-catalog-sync -a claude-codeWhat marketplace-catalog-sync does
The skill applies to seller-side catalog work on VTEX: registering and updating SKUs through Change Notification, walking a SKU Suggestion from send to pending to approved or denied, mapping product fields onto the VTEX catalog schema, and notifying price and inventory separately. A good part of it is about picking the right route. There are two POST routes under changenotification, and swapping them breaks the integration.
Seller connectors must call the two-segment form, with the seller account and the seller's own SKU code in the path. The single-segment form expects the marketplace SKU ID, so a seller code does not belong there. A 200 OK means the SKU is already on file for that seller and you are updating it; 404 Not Found means you still need to send a suggestion. Suggestions go to https://api.vtex.com/{accountName}/suggestions/{sellerId}/{sellerSkuId} rather than the store hostname, using the same App Key and App Token.
Some things are simply off limits. A seller cannot write to the Catalog API directly — POST /api/catalog/pvt/product and POST /api/catalog/pvt/stockkeepingunit are marketplace-side calls, and from a connector they return 403 Forbidden or leave entries that skipped approval. A suggestion can only be edited while pending; once the marketplace decides, it is frozen.
What it helps with
- register a seller's new SKU in the marketplace catalog
- tell the two changenotification routes apart by path shape
- carry a SKU through suggestion and approval
- send price and inventory notifications on their own endpoints
- answer Fulfillment Simulation inside the time budget
Example prompts for the agent
- Write a seller connector that pushes SKUs to a VTEX marketplace using Change Notification
- Check that SKU registration uses the route with
{sellerId}and the seller SKU code, not the single{skuId}form - Add price and inventory notifications plus Fulfillment Simulation handling

Questions about marketplace-catalog-sync
How do I install marketplace-catalog-sync in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add vtex/skills --skill marketplace-catalog-sync -a claude-code. The skill lands in ~/.claude/skills/marketplace-catalog-sync/SKILL.md.
What does marketplace-catalog-sync do?
It gives the agent rules for a VTEX seller connector: Change Notification routes, the SKU Suggestion lifecycle, product mapping, price and inventory sync, and Fulfillment Simulation.
Can a seller create products through the Catalog API?
No. POST /api/catalog/pvt/product and POST /api/catalog/pvt/stockkeepingunit are marketplace-side writes; from a seller connector they fail with 403 Forbidden or bypass approval.
