ouestcharlie-woof — Claude Code MCP server: features and install
Browse and search your local photo and video archive from your AI assistant while keeping media files strictly on your own drive.
claude mcp add ouestcharlie-woof -- uvx ouestcharlie-woofWhat ouestcharlie-woof does
Woof acts as an MCP interface for the Où est Charlie framework. It indexes local media folders and exposes camera metadata, dates, GPS bounding boxes, and hierarchical tags directly to your coding assistant. Original assets remain untouched because annotations are written into XMP sidecar files and companion JSON manifests.
Your image files stay private. The server serves thumbnails locally via loopback, passing text metadata alone into the chat context. Automatic re-indexing does not trigger on its own yet, so refreshed directories require manual updates. Support for HEIC and RAW files depends on your build configuration.
What it helps with
- search local photo collections by camera settings, aperture, or tags
- filter pictures using GPS bounding boxes and capture timestamps
- inspect video dimensions and runtimes directly within the terminal assistant
- manage metadata via open XMP sidecars without vendor database lock-in
Example prompts for the agent
- Find photos taken with a 50mm lens in France from my local library.
- Show preview thumbnails for videos longer than 30 seconds tagged with Nature.
- Filter images by GPS bounding box around Paris taken between June and August.
