openregistry — Claude Code MCP server: live company registry data
Gives your agent live records straight from government company registries: profiles, officers, shareholders, charges and filings. Built for KYB and due diligence.
claude mcp add --transport http openregistry https://openregistry.sophymarine.com/mcpWhat openregistry does
Responses come back as the registry itself emits them. Field names, status codes and the filing bytes stay untouched, and the registry's own identifiers are kept so any record can be traced back to the government source. Nothing is cached on the way, so a call reaches the upstream API when you make it.
The tools cover company search, profiles, officers, shareholders, charges, filed documents and financial statements. Ownership chains can cross borders inside one conversation: a UK company, its Luxembourg subsidiary, a Cayman partnership, a Jersey trust, down to the person at the end.
There is a free tier, and paid keys raise the quota and the depth. Authentication runs on OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration; the free tier needs no API key. When a registry has nothing for a query, the response carries a structured alternative_url field pointing to the statutory portal.
What it helps with
- look up a company in another country's registry
- pull officers and shareholders with their share counts
- walk an ownership chain across jurisdictions to the beneficial owner
- check charges and liens before a deal
- download the original filing document
Example prompts for the agent
- Find Iceland Foods Ltd in the registry and list its shareholders
- Walk the ownership chain from the UK company down to the beneficial owner
- What charges are registered against this company?

Questions about openregistry
How do I install openregistry in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http openregistry https://openregistry.sophymarine.com/mcp. No key is needed for the free tier.
What does openregistry do?
It connects an agent to live government company registry data: search, profiles, officers, shareholders, charges, documents and financial statements. Answers keep the registry's own identifiers instead of being reshaped.
Do I need an API key?
The free tier works without one, using OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration. Paid keys are for a higher quota and more depth.
