Openapi® — Claude Code MCP server: Italian company data and APIs
Connects openapi.com APIs to your agent: official Italian company records, PEC, SMS, geocoding and vehicle lookups. Useful when the chat needs live registry data.
claude mcp add --transport http openapi https://mcp.openapi.com/What Openapi® does
The server sits in front of openapi.com and forwards the client's Bearer token instead of storing credentials itself. Tools live in separate modules under apis, while call registration is centralised in mcp_core.py. Some methods return binary documents, so the server needs somewhere to keep files: a local folder ./openapi_storage by default, or a GCS or S3 bucket.
Two modes ship in one PyPI package. Run uvx openapi-mcp-sdk server and you get a working gateway on http://localhost:8080; Docker users can bring up the mcp service from compose.yml. Or import openapi_mcp_sdk into your own code and put custom logic, tools or auth around the openapi.com calls. Async APIs answer through the callback at $MCP_BASE_URL/callbacks, and with more than one instance you can share those results through Redis or Memcached.
Your own openapi.com token is what makes the requests work — the server never holds one for you. A cloud storage bucket needs a name, S3 also wants a region. Python 3.13 or newer is required.
What it helps with
- pull official documents for an Italian company from the registry
- fire an SMS from inside an agent workflow
- check a counterparty's PEC address
- turn a street address into coordinates
- look up a vehicle by its plate
Example prompts for the agent
- Find an Italian company by name in the registry and list its official documents
- Send a confirmation-code SMS to the number on this ticket
- Geocode the delivery address in Milan

Questions about Openapi®
How do I install Openapi® in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http openapi https://mcp.openapi.com/. It registers as a remote HTTP MCP server, so nothing runs locally.
What does Openapi® do?
It exposes openapi.com APIs to the agent: Italian company records, PEC, SMS, vehicles and geocoding. The client token is passed through to the API unchanged.
Can I self-host the server?
Yes. The openapi-mcp-sdk package installs from PyPI, then openapi-mcp-sdk server starts it on port 8080. You need Python 3.13 or newer and a storage backend for documents — local folder, GCS or S3.
