Multisim MCP — Claude Code MCP server: circuits and simulation
Lets an AI agent drive Multisim: build a circuit from a spec, run DC/AC/TRAN, and get a report with waveforms.
claude mcp add --env MULTISIM_MCP_TEMPLATE_DIR=<MULTISIM_MCP_TEMPLATE_DIR> --transport stdio multisim-mcp -- uvx multisim-mcpWhat Multisim MCP does
The server takes a circuit description plus a constrained SPICE netlist from the agent. It validates the commands, writes an editable .ms14 file, opens it in Multisim, enumerates the parts back for a cross-check, and saves a PNG of the schematic. Simulation output comes back as raw data, CSV, SVG plots and a command log.
Tools cover a single run, batch experiments with pass/fail checks on gain, bandwidth, ripple or THD, and sweeps across parameters, tolerances, temperature or Monte Carlo. Long runs become background jobs with a job_id you can list, cancel or retry. All COM work sits in a separate 32-bit process, so a crashed worker restarts without taking the server down.
You need a licensed Multisim 14+ on the same machine and the MULTISIM_MCP_TEMPLATE_DIR variable pointing at a local template pack; the pack is built with tools/bootstrap_local_component_pack.py from your own Multisim install. The stable package is v1.2.0, and some analog workflow features live only in the pre-release branch.
What it helps with
- turn a SPICE netlist into an editable Multisim schematic
- run operating point, DC, AC or transient sweeps hands-free
- check gain, bandwidth and ripple against stated requirements
- try different resistor and capacitor values in one sweep
- export schematic, CSV and a report together
Example prompts for the agent
- Build this voltage divider from the netlist, run a DC sweep and show me the plot
- Verify that gain is 0.5 within 1 percent and write the report to
C:\experiments\divider-verified - Sweep the capacitor values and rank the runs by ripple
How to install Multisim MCP
Platform CLI
claude mcp add --env MULTISIM_MCP_TEMPLATE_DIR=<MULTISIM_MCP_TEMPLATE_DIR> --transport stdio multisim-mcp -- uvx multisim-mcpReplace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from multisim-mcp <command>
Platform CLI

Questions about Multisim MCP
How to install Multisim MCP in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add multisim-mcp -- uvx multisim-mcp. To point at your own template folder, use claude mcp add --env MULTISIM_MCP_TEMPLATE_DIR=<MULTISIM_MCP_TEMPLATE_DIR> --transport stdio multisim-mcp -- uvx multisim-mcp.
What does Multisim MCP do?
It builds a Multisim schematic from the agent's requirements, runs the simulation, computes the requested metrics, and returns the drawing, data and report to the chat.
What do I need to run it?
A licensed Multisim 14+ installation and a local template pack set via MULTISIM_MCP_TEMPLATE_DIR. The pack is generated from your own Multisim copy by a bundled script.
