Mercantry Registry — Claude Code MCP server for restaurant data
Gives an agent filtered lookup across a restaurant registry for Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Tokyo, plus a sandbox booking loop to exercise end to end.
claude mcp add --transport http registry https://mercantry.org/mcpWhat Mercantry Registry does
The server returns structured merchant records drawn from openly licensed sources: 168,000+ restaurants in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Tokyo, with provenance and timestamps on each field. Search is filter-based with a deterministic documented order, and the schema carries no score fields at all. get_registry_meta reports how stale the registry is.
Bookings stay honest about their state. Against a real merchant, place_booking answers with the rejection fulfillment_not_live because human phone fulfillment has not launched. To walk the whole flow, use records marked sandbox: true: fictional places with fixed outcomes whose phone numbers must not be dialled. Modification and cancellation tools exist, and a merchant opt-out removes it from discovery the same day.
Keys are optional. Reads are free and need no auth; POST /v1/keys only exists for abuse control, and no-shows are counted per developer key. To run your own copy, npm install then npm run dev serves MCP at http://localhost:4100/mcp and seeds a sandbox corpus on first boot.
What it helps with
- find venues across three cities with filters instead of manual map browsing
- exercise the booking flow before live fulfillment exists
- inspect per-field provenance for a single merchant
- judge how fresh the registry is before relying on it
- pull the whole corpus as NDJSON for caching or embeddings
Example prompts for the agent
- Look up Tokyo restaurants in the registry with filters and show the result order
- Book a table at a merchant with
sandbox: trueand track the status through - Check

Questions about Mercantry Registry
How do I install Mercantry Registry in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http registry https://mercantry.org/mcp. It connects over Streamable HTTP.
What does Mercantry Registry do?
It searches the merchant registry by filters, returns a full record with feedback history, and runs bookings through a set of MCP tools. Results are never ranked.
Can it book a real restaurant yet?
No. place_booking on a real merchant returns fulfillment_not_live; the full loop only runs against sandbox records.
