What mcp-registry-navigator does

The subagent searches MCP registries, GitHub repositories, npm packages, and PyPI distributions. It filters servers by transport, protocol features, authentication, and other stated requirements, then returns structured discovery results and an assessment.

For integration work, it builds client configuration with commands, arguments, transport settings, environment variables, and capability flags. It can also review mcp.json metadata, tool annotations, protocol versions, and security details. Its available tools are Read, Write, Edit, and WebSearch.

Discovery and verification rely on WebSearch; without that tool, the search part of the workflow is limited.

What it helps with

  • find MCP servers by required capabilities
  • compare transport and protocol support
  • build an MCP client configuration
  • review metadata and protocol versions
  • prepare server details for registry publication
