What mcp-fns-check does

Seven tools land in the agent's hands. The one you will reach for most is check_contractor(identifier): hand it an INN (10 or 12 digits) or an OGRN (13 or 15) and it assembles one report with a verdict, ranging from safe_to_proceed down to high_risk_do_not_proceed, plus a list of next steps. The other six cover narrower ground: the company card from the registry, current legal status, OKVED codes decoded, the director and his history, and a separate pass over seven risk flags.

Everything is pulled from public sources: egrul.nalog.ru for the company registry, bankrot.fedresurs.ru for bankruptcy notices, the FNS debtam dataset, the disqualified-persons register on service.nalog.ru, the FSSP enforcement database and kad.arbitr.ru for commercial courts. Snapshots of mass-address and mass-director registers sit locally and load through the separate atomno-mcp-fns-etl script from FNS Open Data. No API keys are involved.

The company registry is the only hard dependency. When it is down, the call fails outright. The rest are queried best-effort: a CAPTCHA at FSSP, an antibot wall at KAD, any of it ends up in risks.errors[] instead of killing the response, though the verdict drops to manual_review_required. The package speaks stdio by default, and --transport, --host and --port switch it to network mode.

What it helps with

  • vet a supplier by INN before signing and get a verdict with recommendations
  • see whether a company is heading into liquidation or bankruptcy
  • surface unpaid taxes and open enforcement cases
  • catch a mass-registration address or a disqualified director
  • pull an OKVED-decoded company card into the agent chat

Example prompts for the agent

  • Check the counterparty with INN 7707083893 and tell me if it is safe to sign
  • Run check_for_red_flags on this company and list which flags fired
  • Give me the legal status and OKVED codes for OGRN 1027700132195

Questions about mcp-fns-check

How do I install mcp-fns-check in Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add mcp-fns-check -- uvx atomno-mcp-fns-check. The server then connects over stdio and its tools show up for the agent.

What does mcp-fns-check do?

It exposes seven tools for checking Russian companies: registry card, legal status, OKVED codes, director info, risk flags, and the aggregate check_contractor report that comes back with a verdict.

What happens when a data source is unreachable?

The report still returns as long as the company registry answers. Failures elsewhere are recorded in risks.errors[] and the verdict becomes manual_review_required. Without the registry the call errors out.

Do I need any API keys?

No. The server queries public FNS and open registry sources.
