Logic Pro MCP — Claude Code MCP server: control Logic Pro from prompts

A local MCP server that lets an agent add tracks, write MIDI, drive transport and mixer in Logic Pro, then read the project back to check the result.

What Logic Pro MCP does

Logic Pro ships no first-party API for agentic session work. This server fills the gap by putting 7 macOS control channels behind one MCP interface: CoreMIDI, Accessibility, AppleScript, CGEvent, MCU, Scripter and MIDI Key Commands. An MCP client gets 10 tools — logic_transport, logic_tracks, logic_mixer, logic_midi, logic_edit, logic_navigate, logic_project, logic_audio, logic_system, logic_plugins.

Tools change state; resources expose it. There are 19 static resources and 12 templates covering tracks, regions, mixer strips, stock plugins and instruments, Session Players and a session plan. Risky actions go through confirmation and verification contracts, and an uncertain outcome stays uncertain instead of being reported as done.

You need macOS 14+ and Swift 6.0+. Logic Pro 12.3 on macOS 15.6+ is the validated target, with older releases down to 12.0.1 best-effort. Only desktop Logic Pro is supported. Creator Studio is recognised but not covered, so without LOGIC_PRO_BUNDLE_ID=com.apple.logic10 the server may attach to a Creator Studio window that sits frontmost.

What it helps with

  • create tracks and write MIDI parts from a prompt
  • set tempo and start playback without mouse work
  • read live project state: tracks, mixer, markers
  • find a stock plugin or instrument in the Logic library
  • confirm that an edit actually landed

Example prompts for the agent

  • Make a 4-bar loop in A minor at 140 BPM using logic_tracks.record_sequence
  • Load Electronic Drums/Roland TR-909 on the first track
  • Show me the current transport and mixer state

Questions about Logic Pro MCP

How do I install Logic Pro MCP in Claude Code?

There is no marketplace install command for this one. The server runs locally, so you add it as an MCP server in your client's configuration.

What does Logic Pro MCP do?

It hands the agent tools for Logic Pro work: tracks, MIDI, transport, mixer and plugins. Project state comes back through read resources.

Which Logic Pro version is supported?

12.3 on macOS 15.6 or newer is actively validated; older versions back to 12.0.1 are best-effort. Desktop Logic Pro is the only supported variant, and Creator Studio is recognised without qualification.
