kwp-lab-rss-reader-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Give an agent RSS entries from a feed URL or the full text of an article as Markdown. It fits workflows that need headline lists or article content in the conversation.
claude mcp add --transport http kwp-lab-rss-reader-mcp https://server.smithery.ai/@kwp-lab/rss-reader-mcp/mcpWhat kwp-lab-rss-reader-mcp does
The server exposes two tools. fetch_feed_entries reads entries from an RSS URL and returns feed details alongside titles, links, publication dates, and summaries; fetch_article_content turns a linked article into Markdown with its title and source URL. A feed request can include a limit on the number of entries.
It can communicate through stdio or httpStream. The HTTP mode uses TRANSPORT, PORT, and MCP_SERVER_HOST for configuration. For a container deployment, the host must be set to 0.0.0.0 and the port mapped for external access; without that mapping, clients outside the container cannot reach the HTTP service.
What it helps with
- read recent entries from an RSS feed URL
- extract a linked article as Markdown
- show feed titles with dates and summaries
- limit how many feed entries the agent retrieves
Example prompts for the agent
- Fetch recent entries from
https://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/rss.xmland list their headlines. - Extract the article at
https://example.com/news/article-titleand return its text as Markdown. - Read up to 5 entries from this RSS feed and include their publication dates.
