dejared — Claude Code MCP server for Java archive analysis

dejared lets an agent inspect Java archives, search bytecode, and decompile classes. Use it to investigate dependencies that ship without source code.

What dejared does

Connect dejared to an MCP client to browse JAR, WAR, EAR, and AAR files. An agent can look up classes or string literals in bytecode, then turn a selected class into Java source with CFR, Vineflower, or Procyon. Spring Boot fat-jars are supported too.

The server exposes nine tools for archive discovery and deeper inspection. Its npm package fetches and caches the server JAR on first launch, then runs it with java -jar over stdio. You need Node.js 20+ and Java 17+; a JRE is enough. Without those versions, the server will not start.

You can connect the MCP server by itself, or install the plugin bundle for Claude Code or Codex. The bundle also includes the jar-analysis skill, which guides the agent to use the archive tools. Other clients use an MCP configuration instead.

What it helps with

  • inspect the contents of a Java archive
  • search bytecode for a class or string
  • decompile a class into Java source
  • recover application.yml or MANIFEST.MF from a JAR
  • trace a stack frame into a dependency without source code

Example prompts for the agent

  • Inspect library.jar and find the class related to this error; show me its Java code.
  • Search app.war for the string jdbc: and identify the class that contains it.
  • List the contents of plugin.jar and decompile the Main class.
