Komodo MCP Server — Claude Code MCP server for Docker deploys
An MCP server that hands your assistant the keys to Komodo: containers, stacks, deployments, servers and builds. Useful when infra work happens from the chat window.
claude mcp add komodo-mcp-server -e KOMODO_URL=<KOMODO_URL> -e KOMODO_API_KEY=<KOMODO_API_KEY> -e KOMODO_API_SECRET=<KOMODO_API_SECRET> -e KOMODO_USERNAME=<KOMODO_USERNAME> -e KOMODO_PASSWORD=<KOMODO_PASSWORD> -- npx -y komodo-mcp-serverWhat Komodo MCP Server does
The server exposes Komodo as a tool set that assistants can call. Containers, stacks, deployments, servers, builds, repos, procedures and actions are all covered, from listing and inspecting to deploying, building and destroying. A remote terminal runs commands on servers, containers and stack services, returning output, exit codes and progress. Log search matches patterns with a configurable tail and a match count.
Transports include stdio, streamable HTTP, HTTPS with TLS and SSE. For auth you pick an API key and secret, a username and password, or a JWT token; in HTTP mode per-user local login is on unless you turn it off. Destructive calls such as deletes, prunes and shell execution ask the operator to confirm first, and fail closed on clients that cannot prompt. Tool results, exec output and retrieved logs included, pass through secret redaction before they reach the transcript.
You need a Komodo address plus credentials: KOMODO_URL with KOMODO_API_KEY and KOMODO_API_SECRET, or a username and password pair. No credentials means no connection to Komodo. Run it under Docker, via npx, or as native Node.js; Docker images cover amd64, arm64, arm/v7 and arm/v6.
What it helps with
- list containers and check which ones are down
- deploy a stack or deployment without leaving the chat
- run a command on a server and read the output
- grep container logs for a pattern
- rebuild an image and follow the build log
Example prompts for the agent
- List every container on the server and flag the stopped ones
- Deploy the
webstack and tell me when it finishes - Search the
apicontainer logs for timeout entries in the last 200 lines
