jevreel — Claude Code MCP server: video search and setup
jevreel searches video for moments tied to a question, checks promising frames, and returns timestamps with probabilities. Use it to locate an action, spoken line, or on-screen text.
claude mcp add jevreel -e TYPESAFE_API_KEY=<TYPESAFE_API_KEY> -- uvx jevreelWhat jevreel does
The server arranges video frames into contact sheets and sends them to Jev for question-based evaluation. It rechecks promising sections against full-resolution frames, then gives the agent the matching moments to inspect further. It does not create or keep vector embeddings.
Search can use the video, captions, or a local speech transcript. You can also look for a person using a reference photo. Frame extraction relies on ffmpeg, and the server needs a TYPESAFE_API_KEY; without ffmpeg available, video processing will fail.
What it helps with
- locate a specific action in a video
- find a spoken line in captions or a transcript
- read a headline or sign on screen
- track a person’s appearances from a reference photo
- map scenes using custom questions
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the moment when someone drinks from a juice box and give me its timestamp.
- Search the captions for the apology and report when it happens.
- Find every scene featuring the person in
captain.jpg.

Questions about jevreel
How do I install jevreel in Claude Code?
Add it with claude mcp add jevreel -e TYPESAFE_API_KEY=<TYPESAFE_API_KEY> -- uvx jevreel. Replace the placeholder with your API key.
What does jevreel do?
It searches video in response to a question, verifies matching frames, and returns timestamps with probabilities for an agent to inspect.
What does jevreel need to run?
It needs a TYPESAFE_API_KEY and ffmpeg for frame processing. The server runs through uvx jevreel.
