InternetData — Claude Code MCP server: IP and ASN databases
Lets an agent browse InternetData's IP and ASN databases: which ones your organization is licensed for, what a database holds, and its digests.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.internetdata.io/mcpWhat InternetData does
InternetData ships databases covering IP addresses and AS numbers — geolocation, anonymity, ownership, network data — as gzipped CSV or MMDB. This server exposes four read-only tools: the full catalog with your organization's license standing, metadata for a single database, published digests, and your recent download history.
It is hosted at https://mcp.internetdata.io/mcp and you sign in with an InternetData account. Running it locally from npm needs Node.js 22 or newer plus an API key carrying the db.download scope. INTERNETDATA_BASE_URL points the server at a different endpoint. Without that scope on the key, the local setup will not work.
There is no download tool, and that is on purpose: published builds reach several gigabytes, too much to pull into a conversation. Use database_metadata to see what a transfer would cost, then move the bytes with the client libraries or the API. Watch the two id spellings — a license names the base, while database_metadata and database_checksum take versions[].id. Requests get refused when the two are mixed up.
What it helps with
- check which InternetData databases your organization is licensed for
- see a database's row count and build date before downloading
- verify the digests of a copy you already have
- find out why a database download stopped working
- review recent download attempts, refusals included
Example prompts for the agent
- List every InternetData database and our license standing for each
- What is inside
vpn_ip_v1— columns, row count, file sizes? - Show the digests for
tor_ip_v1and our recent download attempts

Questions about InternetData
How do I install InternetData in Claude Code?
Install the plugin: run /plugin marketplace add internetdata/claude-plugin, then /plugin install internetdata@internetdata. Sign in with your InternetData account afterwards.
What does InternetData do?
It gives an agent four read-only tools over InternetData's IP and ASN databases: the catalog with license standing, metadata for one database, digests, and download history.
Can the server download a database for me?
No. There is no download tool by design. database_metadata tells you the size and row count; the client libraries or the API move the actual files.
