HuaweiCloud DevKit — Claude Code MCP server: what it does
Gives your coding agent Huawei Cloud knowledge, KooCLI tooling and guardrails against risky commands. Useful when you manage Huawei Cloud resources from the editor.
claude mcp add --transport http huaweicloud-devkit https://erx5uqu4-8931.cn-north-4-bridge.myhuaweicloud.com/mcpWhat HuaweiCloud DevKit (Community Preview) does
The server connects over HTTP and adds three things to an agent: cloud service knowledge, CLI tooling, and limits on dangerous operations. In Claude the install is a single command, then you restart the session.
The README's local installer needs Node.js 22 or newer. It runs as npx --yes huaweicloud-devkit install --target <target> and auto-detects agents on your machine, showing a chooser when it finds several. In Codex you call the plugin by mentioning @huaweicloud-devkit.
CodeArts ships with sandbox mode on, and that blocks KooCLI. The install-hcloud step detects it and tells you to either install KooCLI outside the sandbox terminal or turn sandbox mode off in settings. The codex target also needs the codex command in PATH; if Codex came from the Microsoft Store, use --target codex-desktop instead.
What it helps with
- wire an agent into Huawei Cloud without reading the docs by hand
- install KooCLI and OBS config for a specific agent in one command
- verify the plugin is installed and enabled
- update or remove the integration across every agent at once
- keep an agent from running destructive cloud commands
Example prompts for the agent
- Add the huaweicloud-devkit MCP server and list the tools it exposes
- Check the install:
npx --yes huaweicloud-devkit status --target codex - Install HuaweiCloud DevKit to all detected agents at once
