What Hamster does

Hamster exposes a hosted MCP connection to the workspace. It can find briefs, tasks, plans, and knowledge, relate the current code to project priorities, and start delivery for a chosen brief.

The plugin includes skills for setup, planning, resuming interrupted work, code review, and QA. The plan is synced into the repository and kept on disk; when MCP tools are unavailable, hamster chat provides the fallback path. Coding skills need repository and shell access.

In Claude Code, add the server at https://tryhamster.com/mcp. The client handles Hamster sign-in, while the setup skill can install the CLI, open authentication, and sync the plan. Work does not start automatically when a session begins.

What it helps with

  • find briefs and tasks linked to the current repository
  • sync a workspace plan into the repo
  • turn a brief into an execution plan
  • resume an interrupted delivery
  • run review and QA before shipping

Example prompts for the agent

  • Find Hamster briefs and tasks related to this repository.
  • Analyze this brief, create a plan, and sync it into the repository.
  • Resume the interrupted brief execution, then review the result before delivery.
