fixmap — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Builds deterministic impact and context maps from issues or diffs. Guides coding assistants to the right files without third-party model queries.
claude mcp add fixmap -- npx -y @aryam/fixmapWhat fixmap does
The server inspects repositories against an issue description, commit range, or working tree state. It highlights primary files, downstream dependents, and related tests before changes begin. Every suggested path includes rationale and marks uncertain areas directly in the output.
It traces imports, workspace packages across npm, pnpm, Yarn, or Bun, and recurring co-change patterns from Git logs. Agents can receive raw file targets or targeted source slices constrained by a token budget. Cached repository data expires after seven days.
Node.js 20.11 or newer is required. Everything computes on your machine without third-party token balances or account logins.
What it helps with
- identify key source files to fix an incoming bug report
- map relevant test files affected by local modifications
- verify a staged diff against the saved task plan
- generate Mermaid graphs showing component relationships for pull requests
Example prompts for the agent
- Run fixmap to find candidate files for GitHub issue https://github.com/chalk/chalk/issues/624
- Prepare targeted context for the password reset error within a 10000 token limit
- Verify our current branch diff against plan.json
