Entroly — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Entroly trims prompt context to fit token limits and logs decisions in verifiable receipts. It lets coding models retrieve omitted code spans using exact source handles.
claude mcp add --env ENTROLY_MCP_PROFILE=<ENTROLY_MCP_PROFILE> --env ENTROLY_MCP_PASSIVE=<ENTROLY_MCP_PASSIVE> --env ENTROLY_NO_DOCKER=<ENTROLY_NO_DOCKER> --transport stdio entroly -- npx -y entroly-mcpWhat Entroly does
Entroly manages prompt context during repository queries. It packs code evidence into bounded payloads. Every selection decision is recorded inside a receipt. When an agent needs omitted context back, the system re-fetches exact source bytes using content handles.
MCP-only setups run as callable tools. Because of that, an agent can skip them. Pruning context reliably demands an upstream proxy or an active prompt hook. You can inspect runtime status with entroly activation status --json.
The tool also handles handoffs between different coding agents via entroly-work resume. An arriving model reads stored repository evidence directly. It continues the task without re-scanning the whole codebase.
What it helps with
- reduce input token volume when sending repository files to models
- recover omitted file fragments through receipt-backed source handles
- transfer in-progress engineering sessions across models via
entroly-work resume - verify what files were retained or skipped before sending a prompt
Example prompts for the agent
- Check if Entroly context control is active using
entroly activation status --json - Compress repository context within our token budget and record the selection receipt
- Resume unfinished task state from the earlier agent run using
entroly-work resume

Questions about Entroly
How to install Entroly in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add entroly -- npx -y entroly-mcp in your command line.
What does Entroly do?
It fits prompt evidence into token constraints, creates verifiable selection receipts, and lets agents recover omitted text spans on demand.
Can an agent skip Entroly in MCP mode?
Yes, standalone MCP tools remain optional for models unless you enforce context processing through a verified hook or proxy.
