Dreamwork — Claude Code MCP server: job search, applications, tracking

Gives your agent job listings, resume and cover-letter tailoring, application sending and recruiter reply tracking. Public listings work without an account.

What Dreamwork does

The server is a thin gateway. It speaks stdio and forwards calls to Dreamwork's API over HTTPS; it keeps no database of its own. Only JSON-RPC frames go to stdout, so don't route the command through a shell or an env loader like dotenvx run -- …. A stray banner from the wrapper corrupts the stream and tool calls hang.

Start it with no key and you get guest mode: public read-only tools such as browse_listings, get_listing, get_platform_context and get_upgrade_link work, and the agent is told it is a guest. Account tools reply with a short "No API key" note listing the steps. The DREAMWORK_API_KEY value (format sk_...) comes from a free account, and your plan sets the key's rate limit and allowances. When generating it you tick the scopes it may use: read, write, apply, mail. A key can't exceed your own rights.

A hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint at https://mcp.dreamworkhq.com/mcp works too, with OAuth sign-in instead of a pasted key. On first run the server writes a random install ID into your OS state directory. Turn it off with DREAMWORK_TELEMETRY=0 or DO_NOT_TRACK=1.

What it helps with

  • find roles in the public index and shortlist them
  • rewrite a resume for one specific posting
  • send an application and keep a record of it
  • track the pipeline from first contact to interview
  • catch unread recruiter mail

Example prompts for the agent

  • Check what Dreamwork can do and find roles that fit my stack
  • Tailor my resume to the job from get_listing and draft the cover letter
  • Apply to this role and add it to my pipeline

Questions about Dreamwork

How do I install Dreamwork in Claude Code?

Add the hosted endpoint: claude mcp add --transport http dreamwork https://mcp.dreamworkhq.com/mcp. Sign-in goes through OAuth, so there is no key to paste. For a local stdio setup, run `claude mcp add --env DREAMWORK_API_KEY=<DREAMWORK_API_KEY> --env DREAMWORK_API_URL=<DREAMWORK_API_URL> --transport stdio mcp -- npx -y @dreamworkhq/mcp`.

What does Dreamwork do?

It hands the agent job-search tools: browse listings, tailor materials, apply, and track replies and interviews. Listings are readable without a key; anything tied to your account needs DREAMWORK_API_KEY.

What is the difference between guest mode and an API key?

Guest mode exposes only the public read-only tools. Resume matches, saved jobs, tailored documents, the pipeline and applying all require a key.
