Dock — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Bridges Dock workspaces to your coding agent through 8 tools for tables and logs. Useful for reading and editing structured project data inside the editor.
claude mcp add --transport http dock https://trydock.ai/api/mcpWhat Dock does
This server connects AI assistants to cloud workspaces on trydock.ai. It exposes eight operations via the Model Context Protocol, enabling agents to retrieve workspaces by slug, start new spaces, read the recent activity log, and handle table records through fetch, insert, partial update, or delete actions.
The integration relies on a lightweight Node.js stdio bridge published as @trydock/mcp in roughly 100 lines of code. It pipes incoming JSON-RPC traffic from stdin directly to https://trydock.ai/api/mcp over HTTPS with Bearer headers. The bridge retains zero state, leaves request bodies unlogged, and Dock hashes tokens with SHA-256 on its backend.
Every request fails with a 401 error unless you supply a valid DOCK_API_KEY generated in the web workspace settings. You can also redirect calls to a custom host by defining DOCK_MCP_URL.
What it helps with
- inspect records inside table-mode workspaces
- apply partial updates to specific table entries
- generate new collaborative workspaces from editor prompts
- review the workspace event stream for recent actions
Example prompts for the agent
- List all accessible Dock workspaces
- Fetch rows from the tasks workspace and show items due today
- Add a new row to the sprint tracker with current release notes

Questions about Dock
How to install Dock in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http dock https://trydock.ai/api/mcp in your terminal. You will also need a DOCK_API_KEY created under workspace settings on trydock.ai.
What does the Dock MCP server do?
It gives your agent 8 functions to interact with Dock workspaces. The assistant can list spaces, inspect recent events, and perform row operations like reading, adding, updating, or deleting entries.
How does the local bridge handle credentials?
The bridge keeps the key in memory during transit, writing nothing to disk or logs. Dock stores credentials on the backend as SHA-256 hashes, invalidating revoked tokens immediately.
