memex · dioniipereyraa — Claude Code MCP server: search and setup
memex indexes Claude.ai conversations alongside local Claude Code sessions for MCP search. Use it to bring earlier discussion context into a coding session.
claude mcp add memex -- uvx memex-chatsWhat memex does
The server indexes Claude.ai chat history and local Claude Code and terminal sessions. An agent can search those records for earlier context, such as finding a discussion that led to the task it is handling. Data is stored in SQLite, with text and vector search working together.
On macOS or Linux, install with curl -LsSf https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dioniipereyraa/memex/main/scripts/install-pypi.sh | sh; Windows users can run the PowerShell command in the FAQ. Then install the Chrome extension, enter the token printed by the installer, and start the Claude.ai history import. The fastembed model downloads on first indexing, and no API key is needed. Python 3.12 or newer is required.
What it helps with
- retrieve Claude.ai discussion context from Claude Code
- find a past terminal session about an error
- search local Claude Code session history
- connect Claude.ai chats with a repository
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the Claude.ai conversation about this task and recap the decision we made.
- Search earlier Claude Code sessions for a fix to an error like this one.
- Look for Claude.ai chats associated with this repository.
