DDC/CI Control Bridge — Claude Code MCP server for monitor control
An MCP server that lets your agent drive DDC/CI on a monitor: brightness, contrast, power and input. MQTT support included.
claude mcp add ddc-ci-control-bridge -- npx -y ddc-ci-control-bridgeWhat DDC/CI Control Bridge does
The server reads and writes monitor VCP codes over DDC/CI, which covers brightness, contrast, input source and power state. Windows, Linux and macOS are all supported. You can install it globally with npm install -g ddc-ci-control-bridge, skip installation entirely with npx ddc-ci-control-bridge, or grab a standalone executable for your platform.
Two protocols sit inside. MCP exposes resources and tools to the agent; MQTT connects to any broker and supports Home Assistant auto-discovery. Turn MQTT on with MQTT_ENABLED=true and point MQTT_HOST at your broker. One catch with the standalone binary: it exits right away unless DDC_API_KEY is set, so set that variable first.
Pick local stdio when the client and the monitors share a machine. Pick remote HTTP when the server runs on the monitor-connected computer and you want to reach it from elsewhere. In Claude a single add command is enough to get going.
What it helps with
- dim a monitor from the terminal
- switch the display to another input
- turn a screen off on a schedule
- read the current VCP codes
- expose monitor control to Home Assistant
Example prompts for the agent
- Set the main monitor brightness to 40
- Switch the input to HDMI-2
- Power off the monitor over DDC/CI

Questions about DDC/CI Control Bridge
How do I install DDC/CI Control Bridge in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add ddc-ci-control-bridge -- npx -y ddc-ci-control-bridge. The server starts through npx, so nothing else needs installing.
What does DDC/CI Control Bridge do?
It reads and writes monitor VCP codes such as brightness, contrast, input source and power. Those go to your agent over MCP, and the same data can be published to MQTT.
What does the standalone executable need?
The DDC_API_KEY environment variable. Without it the binary shuts down as soon as it starts.
