DataSinking — Claude Code MCP server: reports and setup
Connects an AI agent to full-text financial reports from the US, UK and Asia in Markdown. Useful for company research and RAG queries by report section.
claude mcp add datasinking -e DATASINK_API_KEY=<DATASINK_API_KEY> -- npx -y datasinking-mcpWhat DataSinking does
DataSinking gives an agent access to annual, semi-annual and quarterly financial reports from the US, UK, China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The service returns structured Markdown with headings, tables and YAML frontmatter. Queries can target an FMP-style symbol, exchange, reporting period or a section such as MD&A or risk disclosures.
The MCP server exposes six tools for browsing exchanges, stocks, reports and sections, plus retrieving a full report or one section. Fetching a section keeps RAG context smaller while retaining links from figures to their source disclosure. An API key is required.
For a local setup, use Node 18+ with npx -y datasinking-mcp or Python 3.8+ with datasinking[mcp]. A hosted endpoint is also available at https://api.datasink.ing/mcp, so no local server package is needed for that route.
What it helps with
- find company reports by FMP-style symbol
- retrieve a financial filing as Markdown
- pull only the MD&A or risk section
- prepare report text for RAG ingestion
- trace a figure to its source disclosure
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the quarterly reports for
600519.SSand list their reporting periods. - Fetch the risk section for
AAPLfrom the requested reporting period. - List available exchanges, then show reports for a selected company.
