Compeller — Claude Code MCP server: songs into visuals
Gives your agent tools to find music, build a visual for the track, fire off a render and pick up the finished video, all over a remote MCP server.
claude mcp add --transport http compel https://compeller.ai/api/mcpWhat Compeller does
Compeller turns a song into a visual you can put on a stage or post. The server is hosted at https://compeller.ai/api/mcp and speaks Streamable HTTP JSON-RPC over HTTPS. Twenty tools sit behind it: browsing styles and pricing, searching music, creating and tracking Compels, uploading media, starting renders, fetching renderings, and managing webhooks.
Discovery tools answer without credentials. Everything else, from generation to account, media, rendering and webhooks, needs a Compeller API token. Put it in Authorization: Bearer YOUR_COMPELLER_API_TOKEN. If your client stores raw values and adds no Bearer prefix itself, the X-API-Token header takes the plain token instead. Webhook calls arrive signed as X-Compeller-Signature: sha256=<hex>, computed over the raw body, and the secret shows up once, at registration or rotation — lose it and you rotate.
Finished renderings also load into REACT, Compeller's desktop app for live audio-reactive shows. That app is separate software; the MCP server does not stand in for it.
What it helps with
- find a track by title and build a visual for it
- check available styles and pricing before spending a render
- start a render and collect the finished video
- upload your own media into a project
- get notified when a render finishes via webhook
Example prompts for the agent
- Search for Midnight City by M83 and make a cinematic Compeller visual
- List the Compeller visual styles and their pricing
- What is the status of Compel 12345?
