CitedOrNot — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
CitedOrNot lets an AI assistant inspect how search engines mention your brand and which competitors they recommend. Use it to spot visibility gaps and find content ideas.
claude mcp add --transport http citedornot-ai-search-visibility https://citedornot.com/mcpWhat CitedOrNot - AI Search Visibility does
CitedOrNot gives an assistant access to brand-check results from AI search engines. It can show how often a brand is mentioned or recommended, the tone of responses, answers by engine or question, and queries where a competitor appeared instead. It also returns suggestions for what to publish.
The server provides tools to inspect account brands, visibility, individual mentions, publishing advice, and agency clients. Every tool is read-only: it does not start a scan or change account settings. The repository contains documentation; the hosted server is at https://citedornot.com/mcp.
Access requires a CitedOrNot Pro or Agency account and a personal MCP token created under Settings → MCP. Send the token as Authorization: Bearer <your-token>; clients that cannot set that header can use X-API-Key. Access ends if the account moves below Pro or the token is deactivated, and anyone holding the token can read brand results.
What it helps with
- check how often AI search engines mention a brand
- find queries where an engine named a competitor instead
- compare response tone across AI engines
- get content suggestions based on visibility results
- review visibility across agency clients
Example prompts for the agent
- Show how often AI search engines recommend each of my brands.
- Find Perplexity questions where a competitor was named instead of us.
- What should I publish to get my brand mentioned more often by AI search engines?
