arjunkmrm-perplexity-search — Claude Code MCP server: setup
Brings live web searches via Perplexity Sonar models directly to AI coding assistants. Supplies retrieved content alongside web source citations.
claude mcp add --transport http arjunkmrm-perplexity-search https://server.smithery.ai/@arjunkmrm/perplexity-search/mcpWhat arjunkmrm-perplexity-search does
This server equips coding agents with a search function powered by Perplexity chat completion endpoints. Queries route through sonar or sonar-pro engines to retrieve current web information. Every response returns textual findings paired with an array of reference URLs in citations.
The integration accepts a mandatory query string and an optional search_recency_filter. You can constrain hits to four intervals: hour, day, week, or month. Omitting this field leaves the query unbounded by publication date.
Authentication relies strictly on the PERPLEXITY_API_KEY environment variable. Without this credential present in your configuration, search operations will fail immediately. The code is shared under the MIT license.
What it helps with
- fetch up-to-date web answers using Perplexity Sonar engines
- narrow query outcomes to articles published within an hour, day, week, or month
- extract citation links to verify external information
Example prompts for the agent
- Search Perplexity for recent updates on React releases from this past week
- Look up current library documentation changes published in the last day
