This MCP server connects an AI assistant to a GitHub repository that contains an Obsidian vault. Its tools can fetch a note with getFileContents, search by filename, path, content, or all three through searchFiles, find related GitHub issues, and inspect commit history with diffs through getCommitHistory.
Setup requires GITHUB_TOKEN, GITHUB_OWNER, and GITHUB_REPO. Use a token with repo for a private repository or public_repo for a public one; organization repositories also require read:org. Without these variables, the server cannot reach the vault.
Claude Code connects through the Smithery HTTP endpoint. The implementation uses TypeScript, validates API inputs with Zod schemas, and includes error handling for failed requests.
